Dave Aho Dave Aho is involved with the Door of Love Orphanage that his wife Jan started in El Salvador. Dave and Jan also host the Heavenly Hot Rods ministry in a barn at their home in Corbett. Dave wanted to share Psalm 147:11: …the Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love.
Steve Ruch Steve began attending Crossroads in 2011. Joe Toedtemeier invited him to a Monday evening men’s Bible Study and Steve really liked it. This soon led to his accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior, and his baptism by Larry Whittlesey on a Sunday morning. In 2014, Steve discovered that the worship team band needed a bass guitarist. He volunteered and you can now see him up on stage playing every Sunday morning. Steve can also play mandolin, conga and piano. He takes part in choir, talent shows, facilitate a community group or wherever he is needed.
Steve is still involved with Men’s Monday night Bible studies, and does volunteer work on church facilities projects. In addition, he has several ministries away from church, such as helping to rehab homes. The ministry he is most excited about right now is called Downtown Compassion Connection. The event provides doctors and dentists the opportunity to provide their services free to those who cannot afford it. They are able to do exams, X-rays, even fillings and other treatment right on the spot.
Jerry Wilson Jerry Wilson serves as Secretary to the elders. He served for several years at Crossroads Cupboard, our food bank ministry, helping our team deliver over 250,000 pounds of food to hungry people in our neighborhood. Jerry and Carla have been married for 35 years and have 3 grown children. They serve together in Children's Ministry, host and lead a small group, and are part of the Crossroads Prayer Team. Carla, a retired symphony musician, teaches music privately and at University of Portland. Jerry retired from working in hazardous waste. He likes to talk around the world on his amateur radio setup. A verse with wisdom and promise they both like is Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Ron Edson Ron enjoys teaching classes and one on one Bible studies. He has been a member of Toastmasters (a public speaking organization) for 37 years, likes to read books about science and the Civil War, and has a collection of over 100 toy tractors. Ron and Juanita have been married for almost 52 years and have 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. Juanita has been reading through the Bible over and over for many years, faithfully writes several encouraging letters each week to people undergoing trials, has been sought out for practical counseling by many women, and is a great cook. A favorite verse is Psalm 118:24: "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
Joe Toedtemeier Joe and Barb have been involved at Crossroads since 1977. Some of the ministries they have been involved in are kids, middle school, high school, and the food bank as well as participating in several mission trips outside the U.S. They have been married for 41 years and have 2 adult children. One of their favorite verses is Joshua 1:8: “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
Dave Cunningham Dave and Barb came to Crossroads in 1991, when the sanctuary was not yet complete and we were still meeting in the gym. Dave and Barb started serving by helping in the kitchen for occasional church breakfasts and dinners. Later they moved on to working at the Food Bank. They also serve on the Prayer Team, and as Greeters. Dave is a Facilitator of small groups at the church, and recently has become a part of the Church Accounting Team as well. Although Dave has been retired for about five years, he is currently working for PGE part time on contract, doing Electrical Design Drawing, which he enjoys very much.

He and his wife, Yvette, have been married 13 years and currently serve in the children's ministry, guest experience, worship team and the Hot Rod ministry. They live in Forest Grove with their rescued German Shepherd Dog, Rocky Hamilton. Two bible passages they rely on for encouragement are Hebrews 11:1: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." and John 10:28: "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, no one will snatch them out of my hand."
Jim Watkins Jim Watkins serves as treasurer for the elders and oversees church finances. Jim also has management responsibilities regarding the facilities and the grounds. In this time of transition he is acting as administrator of church operations. In addition, Jim is a group discussion leader for Bible Study Fellowship that meets at Mount Scott Church of God. His wife Vickie is currently teaching the ladies Bible Study on Thursday morning and is also involved in Bible Study Fellowship as a teaching leader. A verse they both use as encouragement is 1 Corinthians 10:13: "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
