I want you to sit back and relax while I tell you a story. Well, don't relax too much - you do have to keep reading!
I recently had a member contact me looking for more places to serve. I did not ask permission to share this story so I will not name her or list where she currently volunteers but I will tell you that she is a part of three different ministries.
This is a quote from her message to me:
"What a wonderful church this is in all that's done in the community.
This is why I...prayerfully seek to serve wherever God might use me."
Her days are filled with many good activities including several Bible studies, personal ministry caring for a family member and those areas of volunteering I mentioned earlier. However, she has opened her heart and mind to God's leading and wants to serve more. There was nothing wrong with these all being a part of her life and don’t think I’m telling you to quit a Bible study or a different volunteer role...I'm not.
I am sharing her story as an example. She chose to quit one Bible study in order to serve more. This is what was right for her. I’m simply asking you to open your mind to what might be a new chapter, a time to reassess your schedule. Fall kind of does that to many of us. It’s a new beginning for the school year, the church year and calendar.
She and I will be talking more in the next week or so but I wanted to share her story with you and ask you to prayerfully seek God's direction and ask Him if you are being called to serve in a new area. Take a moment to hit the pause button this week and ask God to show you where HE wants your time spent.
Praying for you.
