Do you have a fond memory from the first time you did something really fun or meaningful? Maybe you were a small child and found your first tiny frog in the mud puddle or discovered that dandelions exploded and tickled your nose when you blew on them. Maybe you discovered the best recipe or found a new book that brought you delight. For many of us, this exciting new discovery probably had us telling all of our friends and inviting them to come check it out with us. Am I wrong?
Let's walk another path for a moment. If you are already volunteering I'm going to go with the hopeful assumption that you are surrounded by the enjoyment of doing so. Now the challenge question...
Have you invited your friends to join you? I mean, you're having a great time, feeling valued, making a difference and probably smiling most of the time. Wouldn't you like to share that experience with a friend? Don't hold out on them - invite them to come hang out with you once while you're volunteering just to share the experience. If it isn't something that interests them, you still had fun doing something together. But maybe, just maybe it tugs on their heartstrings and they jump in to serve with you. How much fun would that be? Imagine what impact can be made when there are twice as many volunteers. Wow. I think God would be so pleased.
Be thinking...who are you going to invite to shadow you this week?
