The Apostle Paul was in a three-year stay in Ephesus of Asia Minor (western Turkey today) to establish churches there and in the surrounding area when he received reports about and letters from the church in Corinth, Greece raising important questions and issues. These questions were concerning attitudes about church leaders, morality, handling disputes, marriage, dealing with differences of conscience about issues, observance of communion, using our special gifts in a loving manner and a proper view of our future resurrection. Paul, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, gave divine answers to these questions. As we proceed through I Corinthians in this sermon series we will find that Paul’s responses are as pertinent to us as they were to those early Christians nearly 2,000 years ago.
