Called To Serve

We have a new name for this bulletin feature, and you can watch for me to use the phrase “Answering the Call” as we connect through serving God together in future communications. For the most part, each update will run for 2 weeks but there may be times I surprise you so be sure to watch this section.

A little about the title I chose. This phrase is not original to me, I cannot take credit for it but I love it and it resonates deeply with me. I do believe that as children of God, we are called to serve. We know that the two greatest commandments are to love God and to love others. Loving God can be seen through the actions of loving others and what better way to love than to do something for others?

Society refers to this as volunteering and while I will often use that word, you will hear me using the word serving frequently because I think volunteering in church-related activities is serving God, the God we love.

I am busy meeting with different ministry leaders to see who currently needs our help. I already have several opportunities and will start sharing those with you in the next few weeks. Until then, would you please consider praying about answering the call to serve at Crossroads? I’m not asking you to sign up for anything yet, no weekly commitments for the next 10 years! I only want you to ask God to keep the idea of serving on your mind and to be open to considering the possibility.

Here to serve you,
Lois Flores, Volunteer Coordinator

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11 (ESV)
